The Winemaker
Bunnamagoo wines are made under the passionate supervision of Robert Black. Rob was born in Orange and after studying Oenology at Charles Sturt University he honed his wine making skills in other wine regions of Australia and in France.
His talent as a winemaker has been widely recognized in his achievements as a finalist in the Young Winemaker of the Year 2001 and Young Winemaker ambassador at Wine Australia 2004. Robert presented “Wine on the Wireless” on ABC Radio National during 2007 -2008.
He teaches winemaking and sensory evaluation at TAFE NSW and is always an entertaining and informative speaker at tastings and other wine events. He has been making Bunnamagoo’s wines since 2003 and Bunnamagoo’s new winery was designed and equipped with his input.
Robert’s individual winemaking style is evident across the Bunnamagoo range. He prides himself on his ability to combine traditional wine-making skills with the most up-to-date equipment and methods. His wines combine softness and fullness without drying tannin or excessive thickness. They should be elegant, supple, and driven by Australian ripe fruit flavours. This philosophy results in wines that exhibit friendliness and approachability while retaining their individuality and character. They are made to be enjoyed with food and are invariably excellent table wines.
Rob is responsible for fruit selection in the vineyards and all winery operations through to blending and bottling. His intuition and winemaking talents are integral to the continuing success of Bunnamagoo Wines.
